Eleanor of Poole restored

Next up was Eleanor of Poole, a Newmans built Laurent Giles Vertue. We did substantial re-fastening before completely recaulking and rebuilding covering boards, toe rails and taffrail.

Girl Lauren Launched

The Girl Lauren our in house designed commercial fishing boat was launched in May. She floated to her lines, gave a good turn of speed and was remarkably quiet. She is now with her owner up in Scotland.

The Girl Lauren, engine in

The 43 hp Beta marine diesel engine has been bolted down and lined up with the prop shaft on our new fishing boat.

Next will be the steering gear.

Fishing boat stern tube fitted

Here is a view from astern. She'll be caulked and painted before the engine is fitted.

Fishing boat all planked

Our new fishing boat is planked and faired off. The sterntube is in and she's ready for caulking.

New build fishing boat - framed up

Our new fishing boat is now in frame. This is a very heavy scantling for a small boat. The 3" thick oak frames taper from 6" to 4" at the top and are spaced at 12". Next will be the the planking.

New build fishing boat - moulds up

The tempory moulds have been stood up on the keel and the shape adjusted till fair. Next we'll take patterns for the oak framing.

Centreline bolted

The centreline of our new creel boat is bolted and tempory mould fitted prior to framing out.

Timber stacked

The timber is all stacked for our new fishing boat - to be named 'The Girl Lauren' Shes robustly built with a purple heart centreline and oak framing (3" x 4" on 12" centres). Planking is larch 1 1/2 " thick.

Next new build

Our next new build is a commercial fishing boat which will opperate on the east coast of scotland. Drawn by us, transom sterned and massively built. She should be a seaworthy and economical boat to run.

Follow her build over the next few months.....
