Our new fishing boat is now in frame. This is a very heavy scantling for a small boat. The 3" thick oak frames taper from 6" to 4" at the top and are spaced at 12". Next will be the the planking.
New build fishing boat - moulds up
The tempory moulds have been stood up on the keel and the shape adjusted till fair. Next we'll take patterns for the oak framing.
Timber stacked
The timber is all stacked for our new fishing boat - to be named 'The Girl Lauren' Shes robustly built with a purple heart centreline and oak framing (3" x 4" on 12" centres). Planking is larch 1 1/2 " thick.
Next new build
Our next new build is a commercial fishing boat which will opperate on the east coast of scotland. Drawn by us, transom sterned and massively built. She should be a seaworthy and economical boat to run.

Morwenna launched
Morwenna was succesfully launched on monday after her 14 month build. She is a 45' Bristol Channel pilot cutter, commisioned from RB boatbuilding. Her new owners will charter her as http://www.traditional-sailing.com/
She was pulled from the shed on tallow covered boards - all 25 tons of her!
Pilot cutter launch date aproaching
With a March launch date aproaching, it's been a busy time on the new pilot cutter, Morwenna.
John has made all the beautiful hatches and Andy fitted the cabin top. Chris and Ben have been fitting out down below, while Mark completes the complicated wiring .
Rudder gear built and fitted
The rudder gear has been built and fitted prior to launching in March. It's pretty massive with an Ekki stock and heavy galvanised hardware all worked with a long oak tiller.
